Healthcare Support Worker - Learning Disability Replacement Care
Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust
Churchview is a unique specialist service that provides a Short Breaks Service to support young people (over 18 years old) and adults with learning disabilities in Worcestershire. The service supports individuals who require nursing care, are assessed as having complex health needs, and also supports individuals presenting with behaviours that may challenge.
We are looking for dynamic and motivated Care Assistants to join the team. The post-holder will support other team members in delivering a clinically effective service. The aim is for service users to feel welcome, safe, confident, and keen to stay, thus providing a positive experience for all concerned.
This post is for 28 hours over 4 days in the week, with shift patterns of 7-14:00, 14:00-21:00, or 21:15-07:15.
You will need good verbal and written communication skills to utilise care notes, provide feedback to families, and conduct handovers to the staff team. We will support you to gain knowledge of care plans and aspects of the job role. Experience with supporting people with learning disabilities is preferred, but we are happy to support anyone new to this field who wants to gain experience.
Please note that the Trust will not provide sponsorship for this role; to apply, you must have current right to work in the UK status.
Main Duties of the Job
This role at Churchview will include admitting and discharging service users and their belongings. Regular communication with families and other professionals involved in their care, such as day centre staff, college staff, GP, and Community Learning Disability Nurses, is required. You will be required to make beds, do daily tasks such as washing bedding and clothes, shopping for food, preparing meals, and supporting service users with meals. You will need to deliver the highest standards and quality outcomes possible, ensuring that the service user is at the heart of your care and decisions.
This is a hands-on role, and the candidate will be required to support service users with personal care tasks and moving and handling aspects of care alongside medicines management. We are looking for team players; the service runs well because we all help each other and are passionate about the care we provide. We are a supportive, passionate, and motivated staff team that reflects on the care we provide regularly to improve the care we provide to service users. The candidate will be supported by Band 2 and 3 Health Care Assistants, Qualified Nurses, a Deputy Manager, and the Churchview Replacement Care Manager to deliver person-centred care, which involves regular reviews with families, ensuring the needs of the individual are at the heart of the care provided.
