Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the nurse-led integrated community respiratory team delivering care to the adult population of South East Essex.
The team have two sites, Rochford Hospital and Thundersley clinic, and are looking for a practitioner (nurse or physio) with respiratory experience to support in delivering respiratory care to patients in a clinic setting or their own home.
The team consists of specialist nurses, physiotherapists, associate practitioners, HCA's, and admin support. As an integrated service, the team provides assessment and review of patients with a confirmed respiratory diagnosis including COPD, ILD, and bronchiectasis, diagnostic spirometry, oxygen as the local HOSAR, and respiratory physiotherapy.
The successful applicant will ideally have community experience, which would be an advantage alongside respiratory experience, home exercise programme, oxygen assessment, and will also participate in the delivery of the respiratory virtual ward. Demonstration of a good understanding in long-term conditions, multi-morbidities, and the delivery of high-level respiratory care is essential alongside excellent communication and listening skills.
The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team and have an understanding of primary care, secondary care, MDT working, and ICB’s.
Main duties of the job
To assist the team in the management and service delivery for local residents suffering from respiratory disease. This will require holistic assessment to meet health and social care needs and will include assisting with respiratory virtual ward, performing basic observations, capillary blood gases, and undertaking spirometry.
Assist in the development needs of junior team members within the service. To contribute to the development of evidence-based practice using audit and other tools.
Person specification
Education
* Degree in physiotherapy or Registered Nurse Part 1 NMC
* UK licence and car driver
* Evidence of ongoing development and education/supervision training
* NHS experience and awareness of primary and community care issues
* SystmOne experience
* Knowledge of blood gas sampling and oxygen assessment
* ARTP accredited or experience with spirometry testing/interpretation
Skills
* Respiratory experience
* Minimum 2 years band 6 experience or equivalent for Physios
* NHS experience and awareness of national health care issues
* Interpretation of vital signs and awareness of POCT
* Community experience
* Independent or supplementary prescriber
* ARTP accredited
