What you’ll do at Elekta
At Elekta, we don’t just build technology. We build hope for everyone dealing with cancer. As a Lead Usability Specialist, you will work as an independent usability contributor in project teams. The main focus will be on uncovering customer needs and inspiring teams to drive design decisions for improving customer experience.
This role is fully proficient in applying human factors and usability methodology and will manage the usability role in large projects and can manage difficult and complex tasks. You will be the expert in running research studies in regulated industry, analyzing user data, facilitating workshops, and leading project teams in translating research insights into product designs and business opportunities.
As Lead Usability Specialist, you will work as a member of the UX & Usability team, a highly-collaborative, cross-functional team in a scaled agile development environment.
Responsibilities
* Work as an independent usability contributor who uses own judgement to make decisions on usability.
* Define usability strategy for the new product releases and perform user research following the guidelines of FDA, MDR, NMPA and IEC 62366-1.
* Deliver task analyses, use error analyses, product metrics, research results, customer journeys, personas, etc., and work with product managers, product owners, clinical application specialists, safety engineers and other stakeholders to resolve usability issues.
* Facilitate and complete FDA-specified regulatory documents (i.e. Usability Engineering File) for new products to support regulatory submission.
* Refine and improve the usability strategy and process.
* Instruct, coach and delegate work to other professionals when necessary.
* Continue learning in the human factors area and help to increase the understanding of usability in software and occasionally hardware development.
What you bring
* Bachelor´s Degree in Human Factors Engineering, HCI, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
* Knowledge base acquired from a minimum of 4 years of human factor/usability-related experience, incl. planning, executing, and summarizing both formative usability and summative usability studies, in regulated industry.
* Experience in conducting user research, uncovering customer needs, and supporting product management in defining product requirements.
* Demonstrated awareness of external trends, technologies and/or clinical aspects of a product domain.
* Excellent understanding of regulatory usability requirements and of usability engineering principles.
* Ability to do early concept exploration, creating early prototypes and wireframes that enable validation of product decisions.
* Ability to identify potential use errors and whether the use errors are usability issues for new products.
* Excellent time-management and multi-tasking ability.
* Ability to understand and articulate the value that usability brings to business.
* Ability to read, speak, write, and comprehend the English language.
