You will be accountable for making sure that we have a best practice, active programme management function to support sustainable transport infrastructure delivery. This is a critical role for the organisation, as we are going through an exciting period of change, establishing a multi-modal delivery directorate and creating strong programme and project management functions, within a growing transport delivery portfolio. This role will play a key part in setting and maturing that standard, working closely with the delivery team as part of the Transport Portfolio Office. It will play a critical part in supporting Transport for West Midlands’ delivery of multiple sustainable transport projects across the Region. What you will be doing Establish, lead, and manage the Programme Management function for Sustainable Transport. Ensure the Sustainable Transport Programme is delivered in alignment with the requirements of agreed business cases. Establish, implement, and lead programme controls and reporting for the Sustainable Transport Delivery Programme. Management of programme scope, risk & issue, change, assurance, and compliance in accordance with the established governance and assurance processes. Set and measure key performance targets to optimise delivery performance. Lead on procurement strategies and tender documentation, including pre-construction information and construction contractor appointment documentation. Create and nurture a high-performing and inclusive team environment that encourages contribution and recognition. Ensure the Sustainable Transport Programme is delivered in a collaborative and transparent way. About you Significant highways/transport industry project and programme management experience. Experience of leading multi-disciplinary teams and building strong relationships across all partners and stakeholders. Senior line management experience. Experience of integrating and delivering alongside other modes and disciplines particularly rail, bus, metro, and active travel works. Experience of managing and monitoring capital budgets. Experience of contract management through the procurement and management of suppliers. Ability to research and synthesise complex technical subjects into practical, cost-effective, and timely action plans. Excellent organisational, written, and verbal skills.
