London Northwest University is committed to transforming Cancer Services. We are looking for an innovative clinical nursing leader with significant experience as a Lung Cancer Specialist Nurse to support the ongoing development of our lung cancer nursing services. With the launch of our updated Cancer Strategy, we are developing our services across the pathways.
You will be required to be an expert practitioner within the field of lung cancer nursing with recent evidence of professional development. Experience of service development which is responsive to service users is desirable. You will also need to demonstrate effective leadership and management skills with the ability to drive quality improvements, influence patient care and implement new and innovative ways of working to affect change.
Main duties of the job
This role is pivotal in leading and developing the lung cancer nursing service within the trust; You will have influence across the 3 Hospital sites that make up London Northwest University Healthcare NHS Trust. The key aim is to review and develop the care pathways to meet the needs for these patients and to identify areas where specialist nursing input may be optimised. The post holder will review existing pathways across the breadth of the cancer care pathway. The aim is to clearly identify the potential for specialist nurses to contribute effectively to specific parts of the care pathway, and to implement this with appropriate attention to sustainability. You will use best evidence to develop a service which is responsive to the Personalised Care, Living With And Beyond Cancer (LWAB) agenda, supporting patients on completion of treatment and to develop nurse led follow up as appropriate.
Person specification
* Recognised post registration qualification in cancer nursing or speciality
* Advanced communication skills training
* Level 2 Psychology Training
* Masters level study/able to demonstrate equivalent experience or willing to work towards
Knowledge and experience
* Experience as Cancer CNS role at Band 7 or above in Lung Cancer or relevant speciality
* Knowledge of Cancer Waiting Time initiatives and their implication for care pathways
* Experience of shaping services to support cancer recovery package
