About the Opportunity
Nuclear Power Programmes is one of the newest Business Units and has been formed with the vision to support positive change and help shape the future of Nuclear Power.
Operational throughout the UK and across continental Europe, we are seeking to expand our team on a variety of nuclear projects, which range in technologies and that find themselves at different stages of their development. To do this, we are seeking to continuously employ talented individuals to join our diverse team that are excited about nuclear projects and are committed to Net Zero, and Energy Security.
Reporting to the Head of Nuclear Compliance, Audit and Performance Improvement (HoNCAPI), the Quality Assurance manager within the Safety, Security and Assurance (SS&A) directorate will have significant specialized depth and breadth of expertise in the development & application of Quality Assurance process within the SZC Client organisation. Within the ‘3 Lines of Defence’ model the incumbent will develop and direct departmental plans, including business, production, operational and/or organizational priorities to ensure effective utilization of resources and controlling policy formation in the quality assurance and Information Management System areas.
You will provide expert advice and support to the business on quality assurance systems, particularly to the Project Delivery Organisation, who will execute the quality processes on behalf of the client organisation.
The Quality Assurance manager will be expected to work independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations, and will have the interpersonal skills and experience to influence decisions taken at a senior level.
A key role is the management of the Interface with the Office for Nuclear Regulation creating the conditions of an open, honest and efficient relationship to support successful and timely delivery of the project whilst ensuring quality and related regulatory requirements are met.
The Quality Assurance manager will have latitude for making decisions, guided by resource availability and functional objectives in discussion with the Head of Function. Contributions will include project management, responsibility for financial performance and input into planning and policy development.
Principal Accountabilities
* Defining the policy and strategy for Sizewell C Quality management and assurance including Non-Conformance Process and tools.
* Create and deliver the SS&A Quality Assurance programme and create and support the programme Integrated Assurance Plan.
* Directing and managing the 2nd Line Quality Assurance resources and review their outputs
* Leading and managing the interface and relationship with the Regulators relating to Quality Assurance across all organisational levels.
* Ensures that findings from all audits are agreed and recorded to ensure timely closure of identified shortfalls.
* Monitors the outcome of Quality assurance activities and provides updates to the relevant forums on performance and trending.
* Delivery, execution and maintenance of relevant processes, including document review and the ongoing oversight and improvement of processes
* Ensuring that the SZC strategy and guidance enables the organisation to achieve certification in international standards, ISO9001, 14001, 45001.
* Providing inputs for planning and management of the budget for the Safety Directorate and workloads including team performance and development, departmental risk management etc.
* Providing a means of escalation for quality related issues within the PDO, and assistance with particular issues that may arise.
* Management of the team resources will include accountability for administrative matters such as budgeting, resourcing, training, nuclear baseline compliance, health & safety, etc.
Here's What You'll Need:
* Degree qualified in an engineering or science related discipline or equivalent
* Experience of leading teams
* Extensive experience within the UK regulatory environment
* Extensive experience of regulatory and external stakeholder engagement
* Experience within the nuclear industry, PWR design and operational experience preferred
