Graduate Electrical Design Engineer
Overview: We are seeking a highly flexible, self-starting Electrical Design Engineer with experience in the design of Electrical Building Services. The role is to support the design and growth of heat network infrastructure in the UK, which may involve visiting prospective and active construction sites throughout the country as needed.
Responsibilities:
* Participating in the design and delivery of new energy projects during the pre-construction and construction phases, working with and supported by the wider team
* Learning and designing hydronic systems and performing system calculations
* Undertaking hydraulic and thermal modeling of systems using software
* Assisting in the design of medium to large scale low carbon energy systems, heat distribution networks, controls, plant-rooms, thermal storage and fuel storage
* Producing detailed drawings, reports, and specifications
* Surveying and evaluating existing building energy systems
* Assisting in the production of viability and feasibility reports for energy systems
* Coordinating the work of others and collaborating with engineers of other disciplines
* Providing regular on-site and off-site evaluation to ensure design compliance during the construction phase
Qualifications and Experience:
* Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering
* Competent in the numerate design of electrical services for large scale energy centres and multi-apartment buildings
* Demonstrable experience in electrical design with good knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, regulations, guides, and best practices
* Knowledge of LV Distribution systems, lighting and emergency lighting, small power, fire alarms and detection, protection, standby power supplies, earthing
* A proven track record of design delivery for Electrical projects
* Experience across a range of industries and with various Electrical packages and general building services installations
* Enthusiasm and determination to surpass expectations
* Experience in producing calculations, analysis reports, schematics, drawings, diagrams, models, specifications, and other related documents
Skills:
* Ability to produce detailed schematic representations of LV
* Highly competent in AutoCAD
* Experience in the use of Revit and Navisworks
* Experience in using Construction Management platforms such as Procore
* Proficient in the use of design packages such as Dialux and Amtech
* Strong IT proficiency, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, email, etc.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and oral
* Good organizational, time management, and planning abilities
* Creative, inquisitive, and enjoys solving problems
* Willingness to question conventional design methods
* A strong desire to learn, develop, and progress
