Our PHP developers contribute to improvements, new features and maintenance of our Symfony 4/5 based web applications. Working as a member of our agile development team, new features are written using Object Oriented (OO) PHP/TypeScript, MySQL, HTML5 and JavaScript in an environment that encourages learning and the advancement of your technical skills as a developer. Key responsibilities of this role will include: Build and maintain Wren’s custom built, cutting edge applications (Symfony 4/5 based) Write clean code that is clear and understandable by others Contribute to project estimations Contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle Work with senior developers, business stakeholders and wider development team to understand the initial scope for a new project About You Essential At least 2 years’ experience in creating and maintaining object oriented PHP7 or PHP8 based systems An understanding of the MVC approach to development Experience of working with MySQL (We use v8 currently) Demonstrable knowledge of web technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Ajax Experience of using version control systems (such as Git) as part of a team A passion for adhering to coding standards and clean code Excellent communication skills – must be able to describe technical issues to a none technical audience Desirable A working knowledge of the Symfony (or equivalent) framework A working knowledge of the Doctrine ORM Experience in creating and maintaining RESTFul APIs.
