Role: Mechanical Process Design Manager Location: Devonport / Hybrid Duration: 12 months Rate: Up to £87 per hour via Umbrella Inside IR35 The purpose of the Mechanical Process Design Manager post is: · To support the management, delivery, and co-ordination of the SUFLDDS and Resin Discharge Engineering work packages in line with the required scope, quality, schedule, and cost to provide an overall capability for defuel of PWR1 submarines with the 14 Dock Facility. Responsible for supporting the management of the technical aspects of the engineering packages from identification of the need, through to handover. The Mechanical Process Design Manager post operates as part of the Major Infrastructure Project Business Unit.Job Description Support the development, leadership, management, and co-ordination of the technical design packages agreeing project related objectives, managing performance of Engineering and Design resource, and making appropriate technical management decisions. Ensure that the design documentation covers the scope of operations required by the Project Manager and is produced to agreed standards, schedule, and budget. Plan for effective project implementation, identifying key factors and leading the project's technical planning process. Ensuring effective Quality Management Arrangements, operate and deliver through compliance with Babcock's Business Management System and Technical Manual. Ensure that the processes and activities being managed are appropriately documented with appropriate records maintained and configuration and quality controls applied. Ensure that staff and contractors are familiar with the hazards and risks associated with the work undertaken by the delegated engineering team through effective management and communication of the Risk Assessment. Other Engineering Leads (within 14 Dock team) - to ensure that system delivery of the Structural Engineering packages interface with the other discipline packages to resolve conflicts / clashes. Required Qualifications/Experience The Post Holder is appointed as Nuclear Implicated SQEP to carry out the duties and responsibilities in Section 4. Level 6 STEM qualification, OR Level 5 STEM qualification with substantial relevant experience. Chartered Engineer, registered with Engineering Council. Experience of the design support to construction, operation, refit/repair of conventional and nuclear submarines and/or facilities. OR Experience of the design and support of Hydrocarbon/Chemical process/plant systems. · Experience of the Functional Safety implications of process / plant design, and design of safety systems. · Experience of managing mechanical process work packages in a highly regulated environment, preferably nuclear. A sufficient understanding of electrical design to be able to manage a multi-discipline team of primarily mechanical process engineers, in coordination with the EC&I Design Manager
