Job Description:
Overview
The main purpose of the role:
Working across both Boveridge College and The Beeches School, supporting young people aged -, the Occupational Therapist will be required to play a part in the assessment and treatment of children and young people at the school and college.
You will be responsible for supporting the delivery of an Occupational Therapy Service. The post holder will provide Occupational Therapy Services in response to needs identified by assessment where appropriate, and as set out as part of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP), to enable students to fulfil their potential in all aspects of their lives.
Key duties:
1. To support in the provision of an Occupational Therapy Service which is run in an efficient manner so that students’ needs are met effectively and in line with EHCPs. This will include direct intervention with students, provision of programmes and guidance delivered by others, and support for the staff team to ensure that Occupational Therapy support is integrated into the delivery of the wider service.
2. To provide professional support, leadership and supervision to OT-Assistants as appropriate.
3. To provide Occupational Therapy training, support and advice to members of the multidisciplinary teams.
4. To attend appropriate multidisciplinary student reviews and team meetings; promoting our culture of joint working with other disciplines and outside agencies.
Skills and Qualifications
Successful candidate qualities:
1. A recognised degree in Occupational Therapy and current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
2. An interest in supporting children and young adults with complex needs and diagnoses including ASD, ADHD and social, emotional and mental health difficulties.
3. An interest in supporting students with sensory modulation difficulties and motor coordination difficulties.
4. Ability to demonstrate and commit to continual professional development.
5. A strong desire to make a difference to young people.
6. A creative and adaptable approach to work.
7. Ability to design and develop individual treatment programmes.
8. Ability to form good working relationships with a wide variety of people.
