Our Telephone Befrienders offer emotional support and guidance to families through one-to-one phone calls with a parent/carer. They provide time, friendship, and a common-sense approach to help a family through a difficult time, supporting families with a weekly phone call for a period of 3 months.
Telephone Befrienders are asked to:
1. Commit to supporting the family through weekly telephone calls (via Zoom) for up to 1 hour for a period of 3 months.
2. Follow up from the visits by completing a Volunteer Contact Record Form.
3. Be a parent or carer or have experience working with families or children.
You will receive free training, enabling you to make a long-lasting difference to families who need a helping hand. The benefit to children is long-term, reducing the risk of problems escalating in the future and ensuring they have a happy and secure family life.
Skills
No formal qualifications are required as full training will be given. Our family support volunteers all have parenting experience or experience working with families and children.
