Following an increase in funding, this new post has been created to support the Cambridge Graduate Course for Medicine (CGCM) Director in all aspects of the CGCM. The Deputy Director will also have the opportunity to participate in wider aspects of the Cambridge medical course, including curriculum and assessment. The CGCM Deputy Director will also be Regional Sub-Dean of the West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (WSH), the acute hospital where the CGCM students have the majority of their secondary care clinical placements. The Regional Sub-Dean is responsible for leading the education of Cambridge University medical students at WSH.
The post is mainly based at the West Suffolk Hospital's Education Centre CGCM Office. The Deputy Director will work in close partnership with the CGCM Director, a team of eight CGCM Tutors, a General Practice CGCM Lead, and WSH Undergraduate Specialty Tutors. Secretarial and other administrative support is provided by the CGCM team at the West Suffolk Hospital Education Centre.
The role attracts 3PA of funding, to be split as 2PAs with the University of Cambridge and 1PA with West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust. The candidate should be employed as a consultant doctor at West Suffolk Hospital. All candidates for the post should hold full GMC registration and a license to practice. This is a 3-year post with the possibility of renewal for a further 3 years.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance.
This appointment requires an Honorary Clinical Contract.
