This is a fixed term post until 30/11/2026.
A 2 year secondment vacancy has arisen for a Senior Social Worker within West Dunbartonshire Addictions services.
The successful candidate will manage a team consisting of: 1 social worker, 2 senior addiction workers, 7 addiction workers and 1 support worker across Dumbarton and Clydebank locations.
They will manage and co-ordinate the delivery and development of needs led Social Work services across the Health and Social Care integrated Addiction Team in line with relevant legislation, council policy and departmental procedures. They will require to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be solution focused and able to work autonomously as well as being part of a team.
Addiction Services provides a comprehensive integrated service for individuals experiencing alcohol or drug related problems. The service has developed effective partnership working with other local authority departments, external agencies and third sector partners to ensure best practice from multi-agency work for the individual experiencing addiction difficulties and their families.

Requirements
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Children and Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here.
Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.
Responsibilities
The employment for which you are applying is excepted from the provisions of section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order 1975. Applicants are, therefore, not statutorily entitled to withhold information about convictions which for other purposes are "spent" under the provisions of the Act. In the event of employment any failure to disclose such convictions could result in dismissal or disciplinary action.
