Job Title: Freight Forwarding General Manager

Salary: Up to £65,000 basic salary + £10,000 annual bonus + Company car
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Freight Forwarding Branch Manager to join our dynamic team in Bradford. In this senior role, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of freight forwarding operations, managing a team of 20 staff, and taking full P&L accountability. You will also have direct oversight of the warehouse, ensuring smooth and efficient operations, cost control, and exceptional service delivery to clients.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead and manage the freight forwarding operations, including overseeing the team of 20 staff and the warehouse.
2. Take full accountability for the department’s P&L, ensuring the efficient management of costs and maximising profitability.
3. Develop and implement strategies to optimise logistics efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and service delivery.
4. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including customs, shipping, and industry standards.
5. Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, suppliers, and service providers.
6. Oversee the preparation of shipping documentation and maintain effective communication with clients.
7. Lead and mentor a team of logistics professionals, providing training and fostering a high-performance culture.
8. Report to senior management on key performance metrics, operational developments, and financial performance.
9. Manage warehouse operations, ensuring timely order fulfillment, stock management, and safety compliance.
10. Identify and implement improvements to drive operational excellence and risk mitigation.
Requirements:
1. Proven experience as a Freight Forwarding Branch or General Manager or in a similar senior logistics management role.
2. Strong P&L management experience with a demonstrated ability to manage costs and deliver financial targets.
3. In-depth knowledge of global freight forwarding, customs, and shipping regulations.
4. Leadership experience managing a team of at least 20 staff, with a focus on performance management and staff development.
5. Strong understanding of warehouse operations and logistics management.
6. Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
7. Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing demands.
8. Proficiency with relevant IT systems and software (e.g., TMS, ERP systems).
