Hours: 22 hours per week
Fluid Motion (FM) is an award-winning arts and health charity based at our creative support hub in Totton. We run an innovative creative programme all year round, aimed at supporting the mental health and wellbeing of people within our community.
We also produce outdoor installations that have a wellbeing theme. We tour this work nationally to festivals and events with a focus on working in areas of deprivation and/or places where access to culture is low.
Role Overview:
The Community Engagement Manager will play a pivotal role in maintaining and building relationships with our local community in Totton and the surrounding area, including children and young people, their adults, residents and other local partners. You will design and lead community outreach activities, coordinate events such as consultations and open days, and support the development of our hub programme. Your work will directly contribute to growing the impact of our charity by ensuring that our activities are responsive, inclusive, and beneficial for the needs of our community.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Community Outreach & Engagement
2. Build and nurture existing relationships with local residents, community groups, schools, youth services and health organisations.
3. Act as a key point of contact for community members, responding to enquiries, gathering feedback, and ensuring that their voices are heard in the development of services.
4. Organise and facilitate community consultation activities, in line with the charities current programme plan, to understand the needs and aspirations of the local population.
5. Promote the charity’s programmes across a range of networks, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity for all demographics.
6. Collaborate with other members of staff to advise and adapt creative activities that are responsive to community needs.
7. Help to recruit youth ambassadors, and other community participants to strengthen local involvement.
8. Ensure that community-driven feedback is integrated into programme design and delivery.
9. Build and maintain strong partnerships with a range of stakeholders to expand our reach and impact.
10. Represent the charity at external events and forums related to arts, wellbeing, and community development (e.g. Local Children's Partnership).
11. Work closely with the Artistic Director and other staff to identify new opportunities for partnership and community engagement.
Monitoring & Evaluation:
1. Track and report on community engagement activities, including participation rates, feedback, and community outcomes.
2. Collect basic data from consultations, surveys, and events to evaluate the impact of our programmes on the local community.
Key Requirements:
1. Someone who lives in Totton, the New Forest or the immediate area.
2. Proven experience in community engagement, outreach, or development, preferably in arts, health.
3. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders.
4. Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
5. Experience in event coordination and public speaking, with a confident and approachable demeanor.
6. Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a small, fast paced team.
7. A genuine passion for community development, wellbeing, and the arts.
8. Experience working with volunteers and coordinating community-based programmes.
9. Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience of working with a CRM system.
10. Understanding of the New Forest cultural sector and local health and community services.
11. Experience working with children, young people and/or vulnerable groups.
12. Familiarity with monitoring and evaluation frameworks and techniques.
