Principal Mechanical Design Engineer
A mechanical design and build contractor based in Newbury is looking for their next lead design engineer. They work predominantly in the commercial sector, taking the project from feasibility studies through to handover. If you enjoy working on a project from cradle to grave, this one is for you.
As the Principal Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be reporting to the Director, leading a small team of more junior Design Engineers and CAD Technicians on various projects in the South-East of England, predominantly on commercial new build and fit-out projects.
You can be from either a Consultancy or M&E Contractor background, although the latter is preferable. You will be managing external partners doing the detailed design as well as the internal design. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the delivery from the internal and external resources and making sure the construction team has the correct information/working designs.
Duties include:
1. Implement and agree design programs
2. Review and dissect mechanical design documentation throughout the process
3. Lead design meetings with internal and external stakeholders, set goals, and agree solutions
4. Close liaison with the pre-construction team ensuring budgets are adhered to
5. Develop and issue requests for information (RFIs)
6. Ensure that health & safety procedures are fully adhered to
Remuneration
Salary for this role will be between £70,000 and £85,000, possibly more for the right candidate with the right experience, and be in the lead design position with a company that is poised for growth.
The nature of the business means that there is no hybrid working; however, if there is the occasional need for flexible working, that can be facilitated.
