Job Role
Taylor Woodrow is recruiting for an Environmental Manager to join our team delivering the civils work on a new sub station based close to Carlisle. Reporting to the Project Director, the Environmental Manager will be responsible for the implementation and management of creating a culture of best practice environmental performance and excellent standards across the civils work on the sub station. Works include the delivery of roads, drainage, piling, concrete structures, and earthworks.
Duties:
1. Initiate and maintain systems to review and monitor compliance with BS EN ISO 14001 and other company/divisional standards.
2. Manage and oversee monitoring equipment, collect, process, and interpret data (e.g., water, dust, noise, waste).
3. Manage onsite Environmental Site inspections, highlighting any bad and good practice to the relevant teams and Senior Management.
4. Ensure that the Project Environmental Management System is implemented and operated on site through a programme of checking and auditing.
5. Record and report all incidents to all relevant parties and instigate any corrective actions required.
6. Prepare monthly environmental reports for the project, including completion of company/client and divisional reporting systems data systems.
7. Regularly report progress (including achievements) against environmental compliance and environmental targets to the whole team.
8. Develop robust and comprehensive mitigation measures to deal with environmental risks, working collaboratively with the production team.
9. Produce, review, and update the Project Environmental Management Plan - EMP (and associated plans) on a regular basis.
10. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and client representatives to ensure collaborative working relationships.
Person Specification
1. Significant experience with either a consulting engineer, main civil engineering contractor, or a specialist environmental contractor.
2. Broad knowledge of all aspects of environmental design and works and impacts on 3rd Parties.
3. Full and Chartered IEMA Membership is desirable, minimum of Practitioner Level.
