We are looking for dedicated Supply Teaching Assistants to work across SEN schools in Newton Abbot, helping children with a variety of learning and developmental needs. This role offers both part-time and full-time opportunities, with the potential to secure a permanent position through Teaching Personnel. Role Overview: As a Supply Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting children with a range of additional needs, including: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) – assisting with communication, sensory regulation, and structured learning. Speech, Language & Communication Needs (SLCN) – supporting verbal and non-verbal communication through alternative communication methods. Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs – helping students develop confidence, emotional resilience, and positive behavior strategies. Profound & Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) – providing tailored support with daily routines, mobility, and specialist learning approaches. Your responsibilities will include: Assisting the class teacher with planning and delivering engaging lessons. Providing 1:1 support and small group interventions. Implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) to meet student needs. Using a range of specialist resources, such as visual aids, sensory tools, and Makaton/PECS (where applicable). Helping to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment. What We’re Looking For: Previous childcare or education experience (essential). Experience working with children with SEN (preferred but not essential). A compassionate, adaptable, and patient approach. Strong communication and teamwork skills.
