In the UK, Safran Seats specializes solely in the First Class and Business Class seating markets for wide-body aircraft, with industrial and engineering teams in Cwmbran and Newport, Wales, and Brackley, England.
Based in Cwmbran, South Wales, working as part of the Electrical Design Department. Responsible for the management of teams producing electrical installation models and detail drawings for new product and platform designs. Also responsible for the checking and approval of all electrical design work to meet company, regulatory, and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Manage electrical engineering platform teams.
2. Ensure standards and performances are achieved by the design team.
3. Supervise and coordinate design activities.
4. Responsible for the management and control of daily attendance and holidays for your engineering team including absence management.
5. Assist in the recruitment of team members as and when required.
6. Carry out professional development reviews and ensure any KPIs set for the year are achieved.
7. Manage and deliver electrical systems programmes as per agreed schedules and budgets.
8. Responsible for the Electrical submittals.
9. Coordinate with regulatory agencies i.e., EASA, FAA, Boeing, and Airbus to certify the electrical systems installed in their aircraft.
10. Responsible for checking/approving systems drawings and documents ensuring compliance to OEM's & Regulatory requirements.
11. Responsible for producing/updating electrical standard and process documentation.
12. Liaise with electrical equipment manufacturers to finalize the equipment and their installation specification.
13. Report to senior management about the status of the programmes.
14. Communicate effectively and professionally with customers, suppliers & OEM's.
15. Participate in Design Reviews throughout each phase of the New Product Introduction process.
16. Select and apply materials and processes appropriate to each design element.
Job Requirements
Ideally qualified to a minimum of a degree in an Electrical Engineering field. Alternatively, a HNC / HND or an equivalent qualification as part of an Electrical Apprenticeship - Essential.
Experience using project management tools - Desirable.
Proven experience supervising an Electrical Design team - Desirable.
Experience using 3D CAD & AutoCAD electrical software packages or equivalent - Essential.
Experience with Product Life Management (PLM) Systems - Desirable.
The applicant should have an understanding of the effective application of tolerances and a working knowledge of manufacturing processes, as well as OEM installation requirements - Essential.
Experienced in working with Boeing and Airbus specifications for electrical equipment installation is desirable - Desirable.
A working knowledge of the various methods of manufacture and test of electrical and electronic components - Desirable.
Ability to read design drawings and specifications - Essential.
Experience in new model introduction - Desirable.
