The opportunity we have:
Due to an internal move within our Apprenticeships team, South Essex Colleges Group are hiring for an experienced Tutor/Assessor in Functional Skills.
The post holder will be qualified in English and/or maths to level 3 and have experience teaching Functional Skills in an FE setting. The role is working directly with Apprentices working on a wider range of programmes.
The Tutor/Assessor will work with learners in groups and on a one-to-one basis. This interaction with learners may take place at one of the College’s campuses, in the learner’s workplace or online.
The successful candidate will have excellent organisation & communication skills, problem solving skills and a sound understanding of the Apprenticeship sector and the latest reforms. Candidates will ideally possess an Assessors qualification or be willing to work towards this as part of their employment with the College (full funding covered, subject to terms and conditions).
Person requirement:
* Appropriate English & Mathematics qualification at Level 3 or above
* Holds an Assessors Award qualification, or be willing to work towards
* Substantial record of work experience in the relevant field and have experience of having assessed candidates
* Effective written and verbal communication skills & interpersonal skills
* Good organisation and presentation skills.
* The ability to manage learning situations using flexible, student centred approaches
* An awareness of and commitment to Health & Safety guidelines
* Ability to work without direct supervision
* Ability to use discretion and own initiative
* A commitment to the use of IT applications.
* Willingness to be based at any of the College’s campuses and to travel between them as required.
