JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: INSTALLATION ENGINEER
REPORTING TO: OPERATIONS MANAGER
ROLE:
The Installation Engineer (IE) will be part of a team which as a group will perform the duties to install Security Systems at customers' premises. Generally, this role is to install any orders that the company may receive and requires a great deal of initiative and autonomy. Flexibility is essential in adapting to future changes within the company and fluctuations within the workload.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
These duties will be based upon all or part of the following:
1. The Installation Engineer (IE) will be allocated projects by the Project Manager (PM).
2. They will then be responsible together for the planning, scheduling, installation, and handover of projects.
3. On receipt of a site file, the IE with the PM will review the project to ensure that they are conversant with any particular contract conditions; they will also ensure that the equipment specified constitutes a working and suitable system in liaison with the Salesman and the customer and where necessary resolve any queries at this stage.
4. Any predetermined program of works and delivery schedule will be noted and actioned; any changes will proactively be notified to the customer and the Salesperson.
5. Should there be no previous agreement, then the customer shall be informed as soon as possible of the arranged program.
6. The IE shall highlight any issues they feel may affect the profitability of any projects they are working on. Any concerns should be highlighted to the PM.
7. The IE will monitor the progress of their work at all times and will advise the PM of any changes through regular Project Reviews.
8. The IE will complete the relevant commissioning and completion certificates with the assistance of a Senior Engineer if required.
9. Where the IE experiences difficulty in fulfilling their duties or finds the program of works not on schedule, particularly where Liquidated Damages may be incurred, the PM will be advised immediately.
10. The PM will ensure that all applicable documentation is provided in a suitable format at the time of handover to the customer.
11. The IE will ensure that the client or end user training on the use of their system is arranged; this could entail providing basic training or arranging training with another department.
12. The IE will liaise with the Service Department to hand over each installation and make them aware of important information and features of the system.
13. The IE will feedback any relevant information to ensure problems encountered are dealt with so as not to reoccur and areas where installations have gone particularly well are also highlighted.
14. The IE may at any time have a Junior Engineer under their responsibility.
15. The IE will be expected to monitor and assist those other Engineers in the progression of their roles.
16. The IE is to be responsible for informing the PM of any occurrences whereby the Junior Engineers are performing exceptionally well or alternatively where improvements can be made. Specific notice should be taken of their timekeeping.
17. Expenses Sheets: These must be completed daily and submitted by the 20th of each month to the Projects Administrator. Valid VAT receipts must support claims where applicable.
18. Vehicle Maintenance: Maintain the vehicle provided in accordance with the Vehicle Operating Rules. Keep the vehicle clean inside and out.
19. Mobile Telephone: Maintain the telephone in full working order having any necessary repairs carried out as quickly as possible in conjunction with the PA. Keep the telephone charged and ready for any working period.
20. Dress in a professional manner as fitting to the task being performed and as the representative of the company.
21. Carry identification at all times.
22. Comply with BS EN ISO9001 and NACOSS procedures.
23. Comply with all company GDPR and ISO27001 procedures and obligations and ensure that those reporting to you do the same.
24. Carry out any reasonable requests from management.
