A highly established Aerospace manufacturer has a rare opportunity for a Health & Safety Manager to join one of their mother sites in the Derby region. Reporting to the Group H&S Manager, this role offers an attractive salary circa £50k with a 37.5 hour working week (half day Fridays), additional benefits, Company Pension Scheme, Life Assurance, and Health Cash Plan.
Responsibilities of the Health & Safety Manager:
1. Ensure that all Company HSE policies & procedures are communicated, understood, and adhered to across all Company locations, aiming for zero harm to people, the environment, and equipment.
2. Responsible for Health, Safety, and environmental management at the Derby site, promoting a positive Health & Safety culture by developing and implementing effective management systems and ensuring legal compliance.
3. Oversee all policies, practices, and operations for the Safety, Health, and environmental functions within Company operations.
4. Promote and develop a strong Safety culture oriented towards continuous improvement and reinforce HSE leadership from key Company staff.
5. Ensure Health, Safety, and environmental working conditions are followed at all times.
6. Implement policies, procedures, and systems to ensure safe and secure business operations.
7. Enforce safe working practices and minimize lost time incidents.
8. Drive and maintain the Company's HSE reputation.
9. Coordinate with local HSE resources to ensure effectiveness.
10. Apply the overall Company's standards and guidelines on HSE.
11. Perform regular audits and monitor HSE performance to identify areas for improvement and ensure appropriate corrective or preventative actions are taken.
12. Coordinate preparation of statistics pertaining to Company HSE activity for use by Company personnel and outside agencies.
13. Lead any necessary accident/incident investigation and reporting.
14. Manage Safety and environmental issues fulfilling the requirements of all applicable regulations and standards.
15. Ensure emergencies are handled according to national regulations, and maintain operational Emergency Response Teams.
16. Facilitate the maintenance and management of occupational Health, Safety, and well-being through systems, audits, inspections, and establishment of high standards and expectations on employees' safety performance.
17. Advise on Health and Safety matters, providing comprehensive and practical advice to technical and line managers on best practices.
Requirements of the Health & Safety Manager:
1. Experienced Health & Safety Manager or Health and Safety Officer within the manufacturing industry is essential.
2. Background working in Aerospace is advantageous but not essential.
3. NEBOSH Certified.
4. Up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation.
5. Ability to maintain a high level of discretion and confidentiality.
6. Ability to design and deliver training modules.
7. Patience, diplomacy, and a collaborative approach.
