Design Manager - Construction
Location: Yorkshire & Northeast (with some work in Manchester)
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 + Package
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Design Manager to join a well-established and growing main contractor. This role is ideal for someone with 2-3 years of experience in a main contractor environment, particularly those coming from companies such as Kier, Wates, or Bowmer & Kirkland. Our client delivers high-quality projects across multiple sectors, with a strong pipeline of work across Yorkshire, the Northeast, and Manchester.
The Role:
As a Design Manager, you will be responsible for managing the design elements of construction projects from inception to completion. You will work closely with internal teams, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure project delivery aligns with specifications, regulatory requirements, and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Managing the design process throughout all project stages, ensuring compliance with building regulations and planning requirements.
2. Collaborating with project teams to drive efficient design solutions.
3. Attending and leading design meetings with stakeholders, ensuring all actions are implemented.
4. Reviewing pre-tender project details and assessing design resource requirements.
5. Coordinating design-related documentation and ensuring timely submission.
6. Ensuring all design work adheres to contractual and technical specifications.
7. Liaising with consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure project success.
Requirements:
1. 2-3 years' experience in a main contractor environment.
2. Experience managing design within construction projects.
3. Strong commercial acumen and ability to assess cost-effective design solutions.
4. Background in construction.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
7. Full UK driving licence.
Package & Benefits:
1. £40,000 - £45,000 (DOE).
