As a Team Leader, you will lead and coordinate members of the quality team in the Paint Quality Department, driving back defects and ensuring the customer receives a defect-free product.
Responsibilities:
* Continually monitor and audit Health and Safety, People, Quality, Velocity, and Cost metrics within your span of control as per Caterpillar Production System (CPS) guidelines meeting targets.
* Reinforce Caterpillar's Values in Action, communicating to appropriate departments/personnel and at daily start of shift meetings.
* Record defect information in detail to the quality gate visual management boards/management systems.
* Clearly communicate defects to Paint Operations and Assembly functions and support area personnel as defects are identified.
* Provide detailed quality feedback with quality alerts and quality meetings.
* Participate in defect investigations and component inspection as required.
* Maintain the skills matrix for the team to 100% versatility and ensure standard work is updated.
* Participate in Rapid Improvement Workshops (RIWs) for Safety, Quality, Velocity, and Cost within your team operation.
* Lead the team to meet the daily demand of the job and root cause analyze events leading to process failure.
* Generate and work on Continuous Improvement ideas for your assigned area using the Continuous Improvement (CI) process.
* Adhere to the Company's Health and Safety policy and safe working practices, reporting appropriately.
* Undertake training and further learning as required for the job and the BCP Safety Recipe.
* Maintain leadership development required learning.
* Flexible approach to working on varying shifts when required (training, holiday/sickness cover).
Required qualifications:
* Experience of CPS processes to reduce/eliminate cost.
* Experience of the BIQ process, reporting defects, root cause analysis.
* Identify with Caterpillar's belief in the value of continuous improvement and a team-based culture.
* Possess a good understanding of paint practices and knowledge of paint-related 1Especs.
* The ability to work closely with others as a team member is imperative to achieve the agreed objectives.
* A self-motivated individual, with the flexibility to deal with individual and team behaviors, should be able to motivate others with your advice and experience.
* Initiative and strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
* Must be flexible and support with extra hours if required.
* Willing to work on a multi-shift pattern.
* High level of attention to detail.
* Ability to work through quality issues in a methodical manner.
Top Candidates will also have:
* Previous supervisory experience desirable.
* Knowledge of Paint Processes.

Contract: Permanent
Pay Scale: £33,890 rising to £37,500 once competent
