National Highways have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Structures Engineer to join our team. The Senior Structures Engineer will provide technical expertise in the Asset Management and maintenance of Highway structures assets. As a Structures Engineer, you will lead the development of structures (bridges and other structures) asset management documents, including management of substandard structures and post-tensioned structures.
This role can be based in our Wakefield, Darlington, or Leeds office.
Please note: You will be required to drive as part of your role. You must have no more than 3 penalty points to be considered for this position and during employment.
Responsibilities:
1. Lead and coordinate activities involved in the identification and evaluation of asset data to develop early solutions, following agreed methodologies and prioritisation criteria.
2. Develop early solutions for improvements and renewals, including preparing relevant documents, evidence, and options considering new techniques, materials, buildability, and costs.
3. Monitor the delivery of early solutions and plans, liaising with relevant teams to address issues.
4. Identify and support survey works that aid asset improvement and renewal.
5. Develop technical briefs for design and construction contractors for improvement and renewal projects.
About you:
* Structural/Civil Engineer with relevant experience or an Incorporated Engineer working towards Chartered Engineer status.
* Experience in highway structures management, inspection, assessment, and design.
* Knowledge of DMRB standards, methods of working, and Eurocodes.
* Experience with highway construction and delivery methods.
* Understanding of Construction Design Management 2015 and related duties.
