In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for conducting statutory health assessments for children in care, ensuring their health needs are met with the highest standards of care. Main duties of the job
The post holder will act as the Specialist Nurse for Children Looked After (CLA) and Adoption for The Royal London and Mile End Children’s Hospital, part of Barts Health NHS Trust to:
Ensure that high quality, evidenced based health services are delivered. To provide expert clinical advice and undertake review health assessments. In addition, to provide support to all staff in various agencies who work with looked after children and their carers.
• Provide information to commissioners (Designated role) and the local authority in relation to the effective provision of services

Essential criteria
1. Registered Nurse
2. Registered Nurse (Children) or School Nurse or Mental Health Nurse or Health Visitor at degree level
3. Teaching/Mentoring Qualification
4. Supervision Skills
5. Evidence ongoing professional development
Desirable criteria
6. Masters in relevant subject or working towards SCPHN
7. Previous experience working with CLA
Experience
Essential criteria
8. Significant relevant post registration experience working with vulnerable children and young people
9. Partnership working
10. Working with looked after children
11. Safeguarding children and child protection

12. Previous LAC specialist experience
Knowledge

13. Knowledge of legislation relating to looked after children
