Junior Clinical Fellow in Vascular Surgery
The Surgery, Cancer and Cardiovascular Sciences (SCC) division is one of three divisions within Imperial College Healthcare Trust. The Vascular Surgery directorate is based at St Mary's Hospital, Charing Cross Hospital and Hammersmith Hospital. We also support satellite services at both West Middlesex Hospital and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.
We receive around 7,000 new general vascular referrals annually, including both GP and tertiary referrals. Our Vascular Surgery team currently performs over 1,500 day-case surgeries per year and 500+ inpatient operations as part of our elective care pathway. The team also performs more than 600 non-elective procedures on an annual basis.
A 12-month fixed-term opportunity has arisen for a Junior Clinical Fellow within the directorate to undertake various clinical duties as well as academic responsibilities. They will work with the clinical, admin, and management teams along with support services to meet the clinical, surgical, and research demands on the vascular surgery service at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust with a strong emphasis on education.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated, and dynamic team player to join a large multi-disciplinary team in the directorate of Vascular Surgery.
Main Duties of the Job
The Vascular Unit has a strong commitment to teaching, research, and audit and its work is known both nationally and internationally.
The Clinical Fellow will take part in a resident on-call rota compliant with the European Working Time Directive, with the other SHO level posts in Vascular Surgery.
It is the responsibility of the post holder to ensure that communication within the vascular service is as effective as possible, keeping both the Consultants, SpRs, and Senior Nursing Staff informed of the clinical management of all patients admitted.

On Call - The Clinical Fellow will take part in a resident on-call rota compliant with the European Working Time Directive.
Administrative Responsibilities - These will be at a Unit level and include the dictation of discharge letters, electronic ordering of investigations, and the generation of data for the audit programme.
Clinics - There are out-patient clinics on all three sites throughout the week. SHOs will take part in day case and inpatient theatre lists, clinics, and Multidisciplinary Team Meetings.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* On GMC registered/ licensed Medical Practitioner
Higher Qualifications
* MBBS or equivalent
* MRCS
Relevant Experience in Specialty/Sub Specialty
* Good grounding in SHO level surgery
* Evidence of achievement of Foundation competences from a UKFPO or equivalent
* Experience under the vascular surgery specialty
* Experience of HDU/ITU management level.
Language Skills
* All applicants to have demonstrable skills in written and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues.
Clinical Skills
* Capacity to apply sound clinical knowledge & judgement & prioritise clinical need
* Demonstrates appropriate technical and clinical competence.

Depending on experience £41,750-£64,288 per annum plus London Weighting.
