Job Overview
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Electrical Test Engineers to conduct Periodic Inspection and Testing (PIT) of electrical installations. The successful candidate must have a strong understanding of Electrical Installation Condition Reporting, and have great customer service skills as you will be working within the Social Housing Sector.
Key Responsibilities
Inspection & Testing Responsibilities
1. Perform Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs)
2. Conduct visual and functional inspections, followed by dead and live testing, including:
3. Continuity of Protective Conductors
4. Insulation Resistance Tests
5. Polarity Checks
6. Earth Fault Loop Impedance (Zs, Ze) Tests
7. Prospective Fault Current (PFC, PSC) Measurements
8. RCD Testing
9. Functional Testing of AFDDs (Arc Fault Detection Devices), SPDs (Surge Protective Devices), and RCBOs
10. Identify and code electrical defects per IET and NICEIC guidelines
11. Remedial Works & Compliance
12. Aico Smoke Alarm Installation
Essential Required Qualifications & Experience
1. Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrical Installation (City & Guilds 2357/2365) or equivalent.
2. City & Guilds 2391-52 (Inspection & Testing) or 2394/2395.
3. 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671:2018+A2:2022) certification.
4. Strong knowledge of IET Guidance Note 3, NICEIC & NAPIT EICR coding guidelines.
5. Experience conducting EICRs and remedial works in domestic and commercial properties.
6. Familiarity with Aico SmartLINK technology and BS 5839-6 smoke alarm installation requirements.
7. Full UK driving license.
Desirable
1. City & Guilds 2377 (PAT Testing).
2. Experience with electrical vehicle (EV) charger installations
3. Experience working with HMO fire safety compliance
4. PASMA/IPAF certifications for working at height
5. Solar / renewable experience (BPEC)
6. DMEV / MVHR (Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery) experience advantageous

1. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose electrical faults efficiently
2. Excellent understanding of electrical safety compliance, risk assessment, and remedial actions
3. Ability to work independently and maintain high-quality workmanship
4. Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting and liaising with clients.
5. Immediately rectify all C1 and C2 defects on the day of testing, ensuring electrical safety compliance
6. Consumer unit (CU) replacements
7. Upgrading protective devices
8. Earthing and bonding upgrades
9. Rewiring or corrective actions for non-compliant circuits
10. Fire-rated cable installations
