Overnight Safeguarding Officer
Working Hours: Sunday night through Thursday night, from 6pm until at least 8am
Location: Thatcham
Hourly Rate: £12.50-£15 per hour

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Overnight Safeguarding Officer to join our client's team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety, well-being, and protection of all pupils during evening and overnight hours, providing a secure environment where they can thrive.
What We're Looking For:
* Previous experience in a similar safeguarding or residential care role is highly desirable.
* A valid DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance is essential.
* Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies - essential to effectively support and protect our pupils.
* A caring, compassionate, and flexible approach to working with young people, particularly during overnight shifts.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, allowing you to build trusting relationships with pupils and staff alike.
* The ability to stay calm under pressure and respond quickly and efficiently to any overnight incidents or emergencies.
* Ideally a driver

Key Responsibilities:
Safeguarding and Child Protection:
* Demonstrate a thorough understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures, acting in accordance with both local and national guidelines.
* Be vigilant and proactive in identifying safeguarding concerns, responding appropriately and promptly to ensure the safety and well-being of the pupils.
* Record safeguarding incidents and share vital information swiftly with the appropriate channels to protect those at risk.
* Maintain a nurturing, safe, and inclusive atmosphere for all pupils, ensuring they feel supported and secure at all times.
Care and Supervision:
* Be on-site from 6pm each evening, engaging with pupils in communal areas during key social hours from 6pm to 9:30pm.
* Provide overnight supervision to ensure the security and welfare of all pupils.
* Be on-call overnight, responding to any needs or emergencies until at least 8am.
* Foster positive relationships with pupils, creating a comfortable and approachable presence, and encouraging a sense of trust and openness.
* Work closely with other staff to ensure consistent and seamless support for the pupils.
