Employer: Structural Integrity Associates, Inc. Position: Control Engineer Duties: Provide real-time solutions to customers using model-based control systems. Contribute to the analysis, simulation, design, and implementation of control systems for applications to control manufacturing equipment. Conduct control design, simulations, data analysis, and algorithm development and controller implementation for a wide range of systems. Perform data analysis and signal processing to condition data. Develop models in MATLAB and Simulink to run simulations to match customer data. Perform model-based control design using MATLAB, Simulink and tools developed in-house at Structural Integrity. Perform software engineering tasks to support these mechanical engineering programs including algorithm development, coding, debugging, implementation on hardware platforms, and simple GUI design. Perform engineering analyses, write reports, and prepare presentations for clients. Assist in project delivery, task management, project management, and proposal writing. Education Required: Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related field Experience Required: 6 months of experience as Research Engineer or related occupation Special Requirements: Must have at least 6 months of prior work experience in each of the following: Performing data analysis and signal processing to condition data using MATLAB and Simulink. Developing models and running simulations in MATLAB or Simulink to match customer data. Using computer programming and scripting tools for engineering computations: MATLAB, Simulink, C, or Python. Performing software development tasks including algorithm development, coding, and debugging. Performing model-based controller design, controller evaluation, and controller simulation using MATLAB and Simulink. Implementing classical controls techniques (PID, observer, or compensator) and modern control techniques (LQR, MPC, Kalman filter, or Youla Parametrization) for linear or nonlinear MIMO systems. Developing and maintaining end-to-end machine learning pipelines including data preparation, data processing, feature extraction, model training, model evaluation, and model deployment.
