We currently have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and motivated individual to join our dedicated, professional and friendly Facilities team at the Old Road Campus Research Building (ORCRB) as a Deputy Building & Facilities Manager, to oversee the operational management and delivery of facilities services.
The ORCRB comprises approximately 14,000 sqm of laboratory and office space for the delivery of internationally leading research into a wide range of clinical therapies and their outcome by approximately 450 people.
The purpose of this role is to assist the Building & Facilities Manager in providing first-class technical facilities and working environments for the building’s occupants. You will take day-to-day responsibility for the support services of the building, managing the building helpdesk system, and responding to building technical requests in a timely and efficient manner to maintain the pristine appearance of the building.
You will oversee the operation and management of complex research facilities within departments such as CL3 laboratories, piped gases and liquids, glass washing, and cold rooms, including the provision of first-line maintenance to critical plants. You will be line managing the building facilities team, including Building Services Assistants (for routine building maintenance/minor works), goods-in (storage facility), and autoclave operative. Additionally, you will participate in managing costs associated with maintaining the building and setting up, monitoring, and reviewing service contracts for plant and equipment.
To be successful in this role, you will have significant working knowledge of facilities management, ideally within a scientific or research environment. You will have developed and proven team leadership skills, including management of contractors, with the ability to work on your own initiative and to prioritise work for yourself and your teams. Excellent IT skills, including the ability to review FM-related software and recommend functional improvements, are essential. You will also have good working knowledge of the current health and safety regulations of a complex laboratory research facility.
