McLaughlin & Harvey are one of the leading Building and Civil Engineering Contractors operating throughout the UK and Ireland. We are seeking to recruit an experienced Structural Technical Manager to join the team. The successful candidate will work with our design management and technical team. The candidate will assist with internal Design Reviews, health check consultant engineers design and support construction delivery team with buildability advice. Responsibilities Provide structural engineering input on all tenders, completing the Design Review Audit and providing advice on buildability, sequencing and Temporary Works. Using professional expertise and appropriate software to identify areas of over design at all stages of the design process. Structural engineer input into Project Risk and Opportunities Register at both Tender and Operational phases. Assist in the review at tender of novated designers DRM, CDP schedules and appointments. Assist in the KPI/RAG rating of SE consultants and assist in identifying preferred design partners. Assist DM team and Operational team with input and advice on SE information as it is produced, inputting into the package reviews as part of our DM procedures. Provide detailed review of Structural Design and Employers Requirements working with the Design Review Lead and the Pre-Construction Team Ensure areas of over design are identified and highlighted to design team partners, bringing benefits commercially, on sustainability and programme. Ensure project compliance with the relevant Building Control Regulations. Respond to queries from Preconstruction and Construction Delivery teams. Attend site meetings, both internal and external, as required. Prepare monthly reports for the Design Director. Ability to build and develop relationships with Consultants and Industry Professionals. Experience Essential 5 years’ experience in the construction industry. Detailed experience of logistical & construction operations on major construction projects. Demonstrate excellent presentation & organisational skills, ability to plan and manage own time. Have excellent analytical skills. Desirable Experience in the utilisation of complex systems on major projects such as document control. Hold a current SMSTS and CSCS Card What's in it for you?
