On behalf of our client based in Hull, we're seeking an experienced Welding Manager to join their growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to lead welding operations, ensuring that safety, quality, and efficiency are upheld to the highest standards.
The Role
As Welding Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all welding activities across the facility, managing a team of welders and ensuring projects are delivered on time and to specification.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead, supervise, and develop a team of welders, ensuring work is carried out efficiently and to a high standard.
2. Oversee all welding operations, including planning, coordination, and quality assurance processes.
3. Ensure compliance with safety regulations, welding codes, and quality control standards.
4. Review project specifications and drawings, assigning appropriate welding techniques, materials, and resources.
5. Conduct regular inspections, quality checks, and audits to maintain high-quality outputs.
6. Manage resources effectively to meet production deadlines, including scheduling, materials management, and workforce planning.
7. Provide hands-on support and technical guidance as required.
8. Collaborate with other departments, including production, design, and procurement teams, to ensure seamless project delivery.
9. Identify opportunities for process improvement, efficiency gains, and cost savings.
10. Support training and development programs to maintain workforce skills and certifications.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
1. Proven experience in a welding management or supervisory role within a fabrication or engineering environment.
2. Strong knowledge of welding processes (MIG, TIG, MMA, etc.) and fabrication techniques.
3. Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and welding symbols.
4. Experience in managing teams and delivering projects to high standards.
5. Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and quality control procedures.
6. Excellent organizational, planning, and leadership skills.
Desirable:
1. Relevant qualifications, such as a CSWIP Welding Inspector or equivalent.
2. Experience working to ISO 9001, ASME, or similar standards.
3. Experience in implementing process improvements and lean manufacturing techniques.
