What will you be doing?
Working across several projects your key responsibilities with our Training, Support and Guidance will be:
1. Support the project and planning team to help drive projects through building effective project schedules; understanding the relationship between the activities.
2. Maintain the project schedule in accordance with our planning and control processes and contractual requirements. Facilitate the acceptance of the project programme by making sure the programme embraces the full project work scope and is in line with the PMO control standard and NEC 4 contract requirements.
3. Monitor, and analyse project programmes. Produce reports to confirm the programme project cost and schedule performance values. Carrying out critical path and variance analysis. Drive corrective actions to help maintain programmes and to deliver on time.
4. Assist in the resource and cost loading of programmes when required.
5. Attend monthly meetings to ensure an understanding of overall progress and developments.
6. Identify the impacts of change events on the schedule baseline.
7. Ensure the reasons for, and the factors influencing each change to the project baseline programme and the implications of such a change are understood and communicated to the wider project team.
8. Developing key relationships with estimating teams, site teams, clients, design teams, consultants, contractors and project stakeholders.
9. Attend collaborative planning and production control meetings to help drive efficiency.
10. Help collate key metrics and identify the reasons for non-completion of tasks.

Apprenticeship:
You will undertake either L3 Project Controls Technician apprenticeship through a mix of distance learning and face to face sessions with an approved provider under our mentorship and guidance. This course will support your hands on learning in the role and vice versa. With a dedicated mentor and support from our L & D department this is a great way to engage in a new career with a leading company in the water sector.
The course will be approximately 3 years of study and commitment.
About the course:
You will be studying a Level 3 Diploma in Project Controls Practice and Techniques Apprenticeship with Learning Skills Partnership.

Qualifications required to apply:
You will need GCSE passes in English & Maths. Basic IT skills, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Good use of Written English.
Flexibility: The role is essentially site based and whilst there may be periods when attendance at an office, (Either MWH or a Clients), the need to commute anywhere within the Severn Trent region on a daily basis or on occasion lodge locally to a place of work is a requirement of the role.
Strong communication skills: both written and verbal are essential, and you must be able to work well within a team and independently.
Strong work ethic: self – motivated, flexible and reliable with good problem-solving skills. You will also have a strong client service focus and excellent organisational skills with the ability to multi-task.
Excellent computer skills: a good understanding of Microsoft Office are essential.
Curiosity: a natural curiosity regarding how things work, is a desirable characteristic common to all commissioning engineers.
