The Role
We are looking to hire an accomplished Head of Sales to guide an established and innovative food ingredients supplier through its next period of expansion. Reporting to the Owners/Directors you will play a pivotal role in delivering the commercial offering, liaising with customers and internal stakeholders to meet growing consumer demand. A successful track record of Business-to-Business sales in a recognised food manufacturer is essential in this key leadership role. You will also need:
* Refined Key Customer Management Skills - The development of profitable business across a wide range of customers including ambient, chilled and frozen food manufacturers. The ability to develop sustainable relationships at all levels within an organisation.
* An Eye for Sales Development - Willingness to spot and capitalise on new opportunities, increasing product distribution and highlighting the benefits of a high-quality range. Having a real desire to achieve strong sales and healthy profit margins in competitive trading environments.
* A Passion for New Product Development - Working closely with customers and NPD functions to develop innovative product ranges to meet consumer demand. Paying close attention to detail to ensure accurate product specification and agreed levels of quality control are achieved.
Experience and Characteristics
It is essential that you:
* Demonstrate an impressive track record in business to business (B2B) or industrial sales.
* Have experience building sustainable customer relationships in competitive trading environments.
* Be commercially minded and a strategic thinker with the desire to immerse yourself in a growing food company.
* Be adept at drawing up JBPs, fulfilling orders, pricing, negotiating, and forecasting. Accurate numeracy skills, comfortable analysing data, identifying trends and presenting.
* Possess a good understanding of supply chains and production processes. Working knowledge of the ingredients or value-added food categories would be highly beneficial.
* A passion for quality control, technical and new product development would be advantageous.
* Demonstrate a working knowledge of CRM and internal sales tracking systems.
* Display exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage, coach and develop a small sales team.
* Candidates with existing buying or purchasing contacts would be beneficial.

Location
The successful candidate will be based from a head office and manufacturing facilities in North Yorkshire an average of 2-3 days per week. The role will offer the flexibility of home working. You will be expected to lead national and (occasionally) international customer visits when required.
