We are a young and growing day nursery that cares for children of all ages from 6 months to 8 years old. We’d love to hear from you if you’re a qualified and experienced nursery practitioner looking for a change, or perhaps looking to get back into childcare at a setting that feels right for you.
What started out as childminding in 2014 just kept on growing. And in 2022 we became a fully fledged day nursery. Now with over 14 staff, we're looking for a qualified practitioner to work with our experienced assistants and room leaders in both our baby and pre-school rooms.
Above all, we put children first. This is echoed in our staff code of conduct, and in everything we do. As we grow we're working hard to empower and enable our staff to do what they do best – play, love, teach and care for all those around them. We make sure no one is tied down with red tape, form filling or endless tick box exercises. Care and learning goes hand in hand with smiles, fun, play and laugher with us. We don't micro-manage so the role would suit someone who is a do-er, who is self motivated, enthusiastic and pro-active.
As a Nursery Practitioner, you’ll be the wizard behind the curtain, creating enchanting moments for our little stars. Your mission? To turn sticky fingers into budding artists, transform tantrums into giggles, and sprinkle kindness like fairy dust.
Here are some of the things you’ll be doing:
Playtime Extraordinaire
Build epic block towers (and pretend they’re castles).
Master the art of playdough spaghetti (it’s a thing).
Occasional impromptu dance party leader.
Must laugh at knock-knock jokes, even when they make no sense.
Planning, Observation and Assessment
Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that encourage curiosity, creativity, and exploration.
Observe children’s progress and document their achievements.
Discuss your thoughts with colleagues to identify individual learning needs and tailor activities accordingly.
Health, Safety and Wellbeing
Convince picky eaters that broccoli is a superhero’s secret weapon.
Survive juice spills with grace (cape optional).
Maintain safe, clean and hygienic childcare areas.
Safeguard children, and have a sound working knowledge of the EYFS.
Distribute warm hugs as needed (warning: side effects may include smiles).
Communication
Engage with children in magical conversations (even if they’re about imaginary unicorns).
Communicate effectively with staff and parents alike, sharing insights into their child’s day.
Work co-operatively with other practitioners and assistant staff.
Contribute to planning and evaluating the nursery activities and routines.
Training
We’re always learning (the names of all our children, their pets, and their imaginary friends, and favourite dinosaur).
As well as the required safeguarding and first aid training, we’ll offer lots of additional support from Surrey Early Years, The National Day Nursery Association, Parenta, and our other training providers.
Standard childcare recruitment practice applies, including following our safer recruitment policy and procedures, a DBS check, identity check, qualification check and we will kindly ask for two references.
Skills / Qualifications:
Early Years approved NVQL2 or NVQL3
Experience of working with children
And ideally experience of working with babies
