An exciting opportunity has been made available to join the bank as Platform Engineer Delivery Lead within the Infrastructure and Service Operations organisation of Santander UK. Here you'll provide technical management and coordination of staff and services within the IT Lifecycle (Obsolescence) Management Team. We need your skills and expertise to ensure the risks associated with obsolete hardware & software components are well understood, reported and managed to limit any associated risks to Bank-wide operations and capabilities. You'll be responsible for driving the analysis and development of strategies and solutions to successfully upgrade technology and develop remediation solutions, monitor and control initiatives progress to plan, whilst identifying any risks and issues. You'll also provide technical and architectural leadership ensuring strategies & roadmaps are optimised and aligned to the Santander UK architectural goals, in order to reduce risks associated with obsolete software & hardware components. The difference you'll make: Providing technical coordination and delivery of obsolescence management projects Coordinating and facilitating with application/asset owners to ensure stakeholder management Tracking and reporting of all obsolescence projects at all levels of managements with correct KPIs Ensuring risks and issues associated with delivery are identified and communicated appropriately to reduce the risk of delayed delivery or additional budget Liaising with and handing over the remediation execution to the delivery team efficiently, to ensure obsolescence remediations are delivered on time Tracking projects which are impacting Obsolescence objectives and KPIs and providing coordination for asset decommissioning, updating CMDB and reflecting on KRI reporting What you'll bring: Previous experience in large scale Operating Systems, databases, or Application server Upgrade projects Ability to identify obsolescence risk and remediation requirements using data analytics Extensive IT technical knowledge & experience including architectural concepts, design and implementation approaches Detailed understanding of typical software and hardware layers (e.g. servers, storage, hypervisors, networks, operating systems, databases and Web Application servers' technology) and their interdependencies, along with mechanisms for suitably addressing associated obsolescence It would also be nice for you to have: Experience in either data centre migration or large-scale cloud migration projects to include strategy development, planning and actual execution of those migrations Experience of managing cross-functional technical teams in a matrixed organisation What else you need to know: This is a permanent role to be based in Milton Keynes. To support this, we offer site-based contracts with a hybrid working pattern and our expected level of attendance in an office is at least 12 days per month (pro-rata for part-time roles).
