Job Title: Locum Advanced Musculoskeletal Practitioner Banding: Band 8a Location: Croydon Working Hours: Full Time Duration: Ongoing Rate: £33.31 - £34.50 per hour Opening Paragraph: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Band 8a Locum Advanced Musculoskeletal Practitioner to join the Croydon Orthopaedic Practitioner Service. This role is essential in providing triage and assessment of musculoskeletal (MSK) and orthopaedic conditions of the spine and peripheral joints referred into secondary care, as well as delivering the Virtual Fracture Clinic Service. You will work both independently and alongside orthopaedic consultants in hospital locations throughout the London borough of Croydon to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care. Responsibilities: As a Band 8a Locum Advanced Musculoskeletal Practitioner you will be responsible for electronic triage, virtual and face-to-face assessments, and management of MSK and orthopaedic conditions. Your role may involve requesting diagnostic investigations, performing injections, non-medical prescribing, and listing patients for surgery in consultation with orthopaedic consultants. You will be actively involved in the development and improvement of the service, bringing about positive changes. Support and training will be provided by our experienced APP team and secondary care consultants. You will participate in our in-service training programme, regular regional APP CPD, and Trust Clinical Governance meetings. There is also the opportunity to work towards Health Education England Advanced Practice Accreditation and to obtain post-graduate qualifications in injection therapy, non-medical prescribing, and diagnostic ultrasound, depending on service needs and personal development plans. Qualifications and Experiences: Registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) Experience and education equivalent to master’s level MSc in Musculoskeletal practice Previous Extended Scope Practitioner/Advanced Physiotherapist Practitioner position Experience as a Band 7 clinical musculoskeletal physiotherapist Highly specialist knowledge and experience of musculoskeletal and related disorders Evidence of extensive postgraduate clinical training Skills and Abilities: Expert advanced clinical practitioner Excellent time management and organisation skills Excellent team building and working skills Excellent clinical reasoning Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to speak to Consultants and GPs at an informed level Ability to work under Trust guidelines Excellent leadership and motivational skills Strong presentation skills IT skills: use of Word, email/internet, PowerPoint, Excel IRMER trained Why work with Pulse?
