We’re looking for someone who can make a real difference to the services we deliver to the staff and students in the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust and the University of Oxford Medical Sciences Division. The Bodleian Health Care Libraries, part of the Bodleian Libraries at the University of Oxford, are seeking a proactive and customer-focused Grade 3 Library Assistant to join our friendly team.
This is a fixed-term position until 31 March 2027, working part-time for 21.9 hours per week (working pattern 8.40-1.00 Mon-Fri), based at the Knowledge Centre, Old Road Campus Research Building, Oxford. This role focuses on providing essential front-line support within the Bodleian Health Care Libraries, including welcoming readers and visitors, administering the library’s admissions procedures, responding to enquiries, and providing directions to appropriate services. You will undertake a range of duties on front line desks, always providing high-quality customer service. Experience of working in a customer service-focused environment is required. The role involves lifting, moving, and carrying books.
About You
You will be able to communicate effectively, confidently, and courteously with readers, colleagues, and the public. Reliability and punctuality are essential. You should have the ability to work effectively as part of a team. An awareness of the importance of good customer care and a commitment to providing excellent service are also necessary.
