SBRX is one of the world’s leading digital news publications for all things triathlon, running and endurance sports reaching over 3 million people worldwide each year. We are currently going through an extremely exciting period of growth and transition as we look to revolutionise how digital publications transact with their readers. Job Responsibilities · Proactively seek out triathlon, running and endurance sports news stories including professional/elite news, interesting amateur angles, along with any cross-over stories to engage with non-endemic audiences · Secure and conduct interviews with athletes, key stakeholders (such as federations, race organisers) and other people of interest in the sport · Write engaging, factually accurate editorial news stories adding opinion and/or further context where appropriate · Cover major triathlon and running events including race previews, press conferences, live race action and race results · Manage the news content calendar and schedule all news content · Follow best practices to optimise all content for SEO and maximise organic search discovery · Use web analytics to monitor performance of content and refine strategy About You · Digital journalist with a passion for endurance sport and a strong understanding of how to write engaging stories and identify angles to reach wider audiences · Knowledge of triathlon and/or running – you’ll be well-versed on the elite side of the sports, while also able to understand what will be interesting to amateur fans and participants. · Knowledge of SEO best practices and writing for digital – you know how to write news content that drives organic traffic · Proactive and self-motivated – you don’t wait for stories to come to you, you go out and find them · Line management experience will be an advantage as we look to grow the team · A team player with an understanding of how news content fits into the wider strategy Essentials ● Experienced Digital journalist ● Strong Knowledge of SEO ● Knowledge of triathlon and or/running and willing to quickly get up to speed ● Proactive and strategic – able to manage own time, plan ahead and use analytics to refine news content ● Passionate about growing an audience and writing articles that entice & engage readers Desirables ● Line management experience ● Writing skills are primary, but willing to be in front of the camera creating short video news stories, or interviewing athletes on video/podcasts would be an advantage to expand scope of news offering. ● Ideally has some experience of participating in either triathlon or running (even if just casually)
