The Trust is pleased to have been awarded 12 months NHS England funding to support the development and coordination of a Straight to Test (STT) pathway within Vascular Surgery. This pathway will support patients in progressing from referral to treatment more quickly, and will improve efficiency within the service.
The post holder will be expected to undertake a wide range of duties to support the clinical and management team on the strategic and operational implementation of STT within Vascular. The role will be required to work across both the L&D and Bedford Hospital sites utilising knowledge of outpatient pathways and/or Vascular Surgery to implement a custom-made STT pathway for vascular patients.
The post holder will be instrumental in the smooth running of the strategic and transformational plans in relation to the administrative elements of the Vascular Transition Planning Programme with STT being a key element of the future pathway design of Vascular Surgery.
• To work alongside the Service Manager and Transition Planning Group to coordinate cross-site STT development within the Vascular Service. This will involve project plan development, minute taking of meetings, action log coordination, capacity and space utilisation data analysis, patient and staff engagement and administrative support provision. This will require the post holder to use knowledge of NHS processes (and Vascular knowledge if held) to engage with relevant stakeholders within the organisation and partner organisations.
• To work alongside the Outpatients Department, Imaging teams and Vascular Service Manager to facilitate sharing of best practice between Bedford and L&D Hospitals, ensuring templates are developed and systems / information is integrated effectively. The post holder will be required to utilise persuasion and influencing skills to ensure that all parties are agreed on the principles of STT within vascular and are motivated to support in implementation.

• To work alongside the Service Manager to identify service improvement opportunities using their analytical skills and develop project plans for the implementation of change.
• To attend relevant departmental meetings and present / providing training to clinicians and administrators within the department on STT where required.
• To ensure that Vascular imaging clinics are running efficiently and effectively by working with the administrative team and Outpatient/Radiology teams to maximise utilisation. To support with developing and improving clinic pathways to improve the patient and staff experience.
• To identify opportunities for improvement of administrative processes and work with the Service Manager to implement changes.
• To carry out any reasonable work requests to meet the needs of the service.
