An exciting opportunity for a Senior Transport Planner in our Highways and Transport Service has arisen due to retirement.

A key part of the role is recommending when and where transport improvements are delivered to support sustainable economic growth. In this role, you'll work with colleagues across the council to prepare, implement and monitor the councils Local Transport Plan, ensuring our transport policies, strategies and initiatives deliver our Councils priorities ensuring improved outcomes for residents, businesses and visitors whilst aligning with national and regional priorities. You will also work closely with delivery partners to ensure coordinated and collaborative approaches to investment, developing and managing business cases for major transport projects and schemes (including rail services and infrastructure), helping to maximise the Councils success when bidding for competitive funding opportunities at a national level.
We're seeking a candidate with a relevant degree or postgraduate qualification in a transport planning-related field and at least three years of post-qualification experience. The ideal candidate will have:
* A deep understanding of transport planning issues.
* Extensive knowledge of external funding sources and co-funding opportunities.
* A proven track record in contributing to policy and strategy development.
* Strong project management skills, with experience in delivering complex policy documents (e.g. LTPs), transport plans and policy development.
* While not essential, experience and knowledge of working within the rail sector would be a valuable asset.
