The Opportunity
Are you a skilled leader with a passion for business analysis? We are looking for a positive, pro-active Lead Business Analyst to guide, manage, and mentor a newly formed team of talented Business Analysts. As part of establishing the new team, we are looking for someone who can define ways of working, measure and monitor success and lead on how the team can best contribute to the delivery lifecycle. In this role, you will be comfortable coaching and developing a high performing team, as well as handling core HR processes like recruitment, personal development and performance management.
This is a unique opportunity to establish a core business analyst capability and build a highly respected team in a top ten University.
Major Duties:
* Work with colleagues in the Design & Build teams, to develop working standards and processes for the team, including document business process flows, user stories, acceptance criteria and requirements, ensuring that they are in line with the University’s guardrails and principles for digital solution.
* Influence and motivate members of the team to deliver high performance against objectives and deliverables
* Ensure that any risks associated with the agreed Design, Build and Change Request approach are clearly documented and describe all mitigating actions to be undertaken.
* Conduct quality assurance and peer reviews of the team’s work to ensure there is a robust, audit trail and documented record of activities.
* Working with teams across ISS and within business areas across the University, support the development, testing, training and business change and readiness activity throughout the project or product/service improvement lifecycle.
Required experience, skills & abilities :
1. Educated to degree level or equivalent professional experience working within business analysis. (Essential)
2. Relevant Professional qualification (e.g. BCS, APMG etc) (Essential)
3. Extensive experience of leading a team of business analysts based in the IT department of a large complex organisation. (Essential)
4. Proven track record of establishing and implementing Business Analyst capability from scratch, including process, documentation and tooling in a large, complex environment. (Essential)
5. Experience aligning IT strategy with business goals and driving strategic initiatives. (Essential)
6. Proven experience of establishing a high performing team. The ability to lead, upskill, manage, motivate and coach a team, tackling difficult issues when needed, in a professional manner. (Essential)
7. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively. (Essential)
8. Ability to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical audiences, being able to understand and clearly communicate with both stakeholder groups at all organisational levels. (Essential)
9. High level of professionalism and integrity, motivated by a strong customer service focus, being resilient and adaptive to change and challenges. (Essential)
10. Knowledge of the IT landscape in Higher Education, including emerging technologies and trends including an awareness of the regulatory, compliance, and policy issues related to IT in Higher Education. (Desirable)
11. Successful completion of leadership and management development training. (Desirable)
12. A history of personal development in business analysis, along with a commitment to ongoing growth. (Essential)
