We are looking to recruit 2 qualified Educational Mental Health practitioners/Mental Health practitioners to join our MHST in Barnsley.
Compass Be Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) ensure Children and Young People (CYP) access the right help, at the right time, in the right setting. MHSTs will remove duplication and avoid CYP/families being bounced in between services.
Compass has a successful track record in early intervention health and wellbeing services for children and young people. We use a wide range of creative and dynamic methods of engagement, including digital interventions, across community and educational settings.

The service supports CYP and families providing extra capacity for early intervention support within school and college settings in three core areas:
* Providing evidence-based interventions for mild to moderate mental health and emotional wellbeing issues
* Supporting designated senior mental health leads in each setting
* Providing timely advice to school and college staff and parents as required
Main duties of the job
You will be an experienced professional with a passion for supporting children and young people's emotional wellbeing and mental health looking for a new challenge. The post holder will be responsible for supporting service development and embedding services within education settings in Barnsley. The post holder will hold a caseload for children and young people with mild to moderate mental health problems in educational settings. This involves the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the care for the parent or carer of the child or young person.
The post holder is also responsible for developing and disseminating packages of care. The care may include a variety of evidenced based interventions to children and young people and work with parents and teaching staff on an individual and in a group setting. They also offer specialist support, consultation, and training to staff within the service and other agencies where appropriate.

Qualifications
* Teaching qualification
* Youth Mental Health First Aid trained
Experience
* Knowledge of educational environments
* Knowledge of safeguarding issues
* Knowledge of capacity and consent issues including Gillick competence
* Experience of working with children and young people, their families, and others
* Experience of working and liaising with a wide variety of agencies and stakeholders
* Experience of working with children and young people who have social, emotional and/or behavioural difficulties
* Experience of working with anxiety disorders
* Experience of working with affective (mood) disorders
* Experience of the delivery of specific therapeutic interventions to children, young people, or their families (e.g. CBT, solution focused brief therapy)
* Knowledge of the functional operation of specialist Children and Young Peoples Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing services teams
* Experience of working with children and their families in a healthcare setting
* Experience of working with children and their families in an education setting
* Experience of monitoring and recording outcome measures for children's emotional wellbeing
* Experience of navigating complex social systems and environments, who may have conflicting priorities or agendas
* Experience of working with looked after children
* Experience of working with other vulnerable groups
Additional Criteria
* Ability to carry out 1:1 therapeutic mental health interventions with children
* Ability to carry out 1:1 therapeutic mental health interventions with families
* Ability to work within educational settings to increase mental health awareness within staff group
* Ability to conduct mental health assessments of children and young people
* Ability to make an assessment of risk and to record and communicate it appropriately
* Ability to take appropriate action to mitigate or manage risk
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Excellent time management and organisational skills
* Access to own transport or evidence of ability to commute efficiently between community venues.
* Ongoing commitment to maintain registration in core profession
* Willingness to study further if required
* Proven commitment to continuous professional development
* Ability to teach others about mental health issues
* Ability to conduct other group therapeutic interventions with children and their families
