We are looking for a Data Science Manager to join our growing Data Science team at Next! The role sits within the wider eCommerce division, tasked with delivering significant commercial value in a fast-paced environment.
Let’s talk numbers. When it comes to UK retail, it’s hard to find a bigger name. We sell thousands of items an hour and are expanding our e-commerce business by the second. For anyone in Data, this is the place to learn. To grow. And to thrive.
About the team
eCommerce Data provides the department and the business the means to see what is working and what is not by drawing data and analysing patterns of shopping on our site and in general.
About the role
As the Data Science Manager, you will focus on ensuring we put the very best content in front of each customer, surfacing the right product at the right time through the right channel. What else is involved?
1. Work with teams from around the business to understand the business problem and own the technical solution, identifying further opportunities to deliver value along the way.
2. Liaise with data engineering and software development teams to provide technical requirements for our team’s work, holding these teams to account on delivery timelines.
3. Interrogate large volumes of data from a range of sources, including transactional, demographic and online, to collect data for modelling.
4. Use machine learning to build models that predict customer behaviour and help us identify optimal content to show to each customer - what, when and how to show this content.
5. Design and execute tests that confirm your commercial hypotheses.
6. Present your team’s work to a range of stakeholders, up to and including regular meetings with the CEO.
7. Proactively identify opportunities for personalisation and improvements to the customer experience
We are looking for someone who has a solid technical understanding of a broad range of data science techniques, combined with great communication skills and an enthusiasm for delivering data science in a commercial environment. Experience using Python is essential and PySpark is beneficial but not essential. If this sounds like you, this is the role for you - and your career!
You’ll be doing all this from our Leicestershire Head Office. Our offices are inspiring, yes. But we understand that life happens. So, we’re big on making sure your work, works for you which is why we offer flexible working.
