The Role The Health & Safety, Safety & Compliance Monitoring Manager (HSSCM) is dual role that is responsible for the development, administration and maintenance of the Health & Safety, Safety Management System and Compliance Monitoring. Health and Safety: Implementing and maintaining Health & Safety policies and procedures, and ensuring the Company, its employees and contractors are compliant with Health and Safety Legislation Implementing and overseeing Environmental polices and ensuring the Company is compliant with current Legislation Ensuring staff have the relevant Health & Safety and Environmental training to enable them to carry out their tasks safely and compliant with Health & Safety and Environmental Legislation Investigating incidents where required and gather all documentation in line with company policies Reviewing internal Risk Assessments Overseeing contractors Risk Assessments and Method Statements ensuring they are adhered to Carrying out internal Audits, identifying areas for improvements Carrying out monthly building / safety inspections Carrying out Fire Safety Manager duties Safety Management: (Appropriate training will be given for this section of the role) Act as the Focal Point for all Safety Issues Act as the Focal Point with regards to the development, administration and maintenance of the organisations Safety Management System Facilitate hazard identification, risk analysis and management Monitor the implementation of actions taken to mitigate risks, as listed in the Safety Action Plan Provide periodic reports on safety performance Ensure maintenance of safety management documentation Ensure that there is safety management training available and that it meets acceptable standards Provide advice on safety matters; and Ensure initiation and follow-up of internal occurrence / accident investigations Compliance Monitoring: (Appropriate training will be given for this section of the role) Monitoring the compliance of the organisation with all applicable regulatory requirements Monitoring the compliance of the organisation with the provisions of the Operations, Training and Safety Management Manuals Ensuring that the compliance monitoring programme is properly implemented, maintained and continually reviewed and improved Preparing and managing Compliance Management System Audits Ensuring that audits are conducted by suitable personnel Conducting an Annual review of Quality procedures Supporting customer audits on site as required The HSSCM will be trained in alignment with their role and responsibilities as per the Company training matrix. They shall be trained in the Company Safety Management System to the level defined on the training requirements matrix for their role, and any specific health and safety responsibilities. The HSSCM will be required, in the exercise of their daily duties, to comply with regulatory requirements and work in accordance with the procedures applicable to their tasks. Any potential for non-compliance or the introduction of a hazard or risk will need to be reported to the Accountable Manager, as well as recommendations for improvements to procedure or process. The Candidate Our client is looking for a NEBOSH qualified (or equivalent) candidate who can demonstrate: Proficiency in Microsoft 365 suite (SharePoint, word, excel ,PowerPoint and Outlook) High level of personal professional integrity Ability to work independently or as part of a small team Previous experience managing a Safety Management System for Air operators Certificate or Approved Training Organisation /Flight Simulation Training Devices operator would be an advantage but not essential The Terms This is a part time role, 3 days per week, (24 Hours) based in at our clients offices in Burgess Hill, with some flexibility for remote working (Attendance on site to support any visit from the relevant regulatory authority is essential). A salary of £50K FTE (£30,000 actual for the 24 hours per week) is available for the right candidate along with the following benefits.. Holidays depending on working pattern will either be 15 days per year (3 day working week) or 120 hours per year, plus bank holiday entitlement Pension eligible to join after probation period.
