Job Description
New Horizons Club is a community group focusing on the needs of the older generation. We are recruiting a Cook to prepare and cook 20 to 30 lunches for members and volunteers two days a week. You will be experienced in delivering a quality and nutritious menu that meets the various dietary needs of our members. With the assistance of a volunteer kitchen assistant, you will play a key role in creating home cooked family favourite dishes along with themed meals on special occasions.
You will have experience of working in a professional kitchen and have good organisational skills and knowledge of good kitchen practices and food hygiene standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure that all stages of food preparation are maintained to the highest standards.
* Plan and implement a varied menu, ensuring that the food purchased is fresh and within budget.
* Ensure compliance with the Food Safety and Hygiene (England) Regulations 2013 and New Horizons Club policies and procedures.
* Ensure quality of meals produced in terms of presentation and taste.
* Ensure waste is kept to a minimum.
* Ensure individual dietary requirements are met (e.g. low sugar, vegetarian etc.).
* Ensure that the necessary systems and checks are maintained in order to provide a safe, healthy and efficient working environment.
* Ensure all food and other items are stored correctly.
* Monitor stock, maintain effective stock rotation, place weekly order for supplies and arrange collection.
* Ensure cleanliness of workspace and all equipment.
* Build positive relationships with members and respond positively to their feedback and requests.
New Horizons Club is a not-for-profit organisation which provides a social day out, two course lunch and activities for older people in the Woodbridge area.
Based at St.Audry's Hall, Melton and run by a committee of volunteers we offer you a friendly and supportive environment, free parking, refreshments and lunch.
