Are you a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Surgeon looking to be apart of a dynamic team in Aberdeenshire? At Mintlaw Vets, we are excited to welcome applications for an experienced vet who is confident in both consulting and surgery, ready to take on a varied first opinion small animal caseload that will allow you to utilise and develop in both consulting and surgery skills.
A keen interest in surgery would be invaluable, as you'll participate in general surgery, including dentistry. One dedicated ops day each week will allow you to immerse yourself in surgical excellence, with opportunities for more if desired. We are happy to support and nurture your specific surgical interests.

At Mintlaw, we understand the importance of achieving a fulfilling work-life balance. The full-time role involves up to 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday, from 8:30am to 6:30pm, however, we’re more than happy to discuss part-time options and help you shape a schedule that fits around your lifestyle. Joining our team means contributing to a rotating 1:5 Saturday working 9am-1pm with no out-of-hours commitment.

Mintlaw Vets is a bustling single-site practice situated in Aberdeenshire. Our purpose-built premises house a vibrant and forward-thinking team that values collaboration. With a focus on continuous improvement, we hold RCVS Accreditation, VetGDP, VN Training Practice status, and ISFM Cat-Friendly Clinic Accreditation. We implement Fear Free techniques to enhance the well-being of both clients and patients.
Within our well-equipped facility, you'll find a light and spacious waiting room, four consulting rooms (including a dedicated nurse consultation room), a surgical operating theatre, and a radiography/dentistry suite housing up-to-date equipment. Our in-house lab is equipped with Idexx analysers and a microscope, while our cutting-edge tools include ultrasound, therapeutic laser, endoscopy, and dental radiography with very modern dental equipment. We are a small animal only practice, but can accommodate the occasional exotics case. Orthopaedic cases are referred to AVR, and we refer more complex medical and ophthalmology cases when specialist treatment is required.

As a member of our 5 strong Vet team, you’ll collaborate closely and be supported by our 6 Registered Veterinary Nurses, student nurses, and VCAs. Our clinical excellence is reinforced by a diligent reception and management team. Notable team members include a vet working towards a medicine certificate, a Clinical Director confident with most soft tissue surgeries, an RVN specialising in rabbit care, another who played a key role in achieving our ISFM Silver Cat-Friendly Clinic accreditation, and an HRVN who is a clinical coach. To further support our team, we offer custom-built staff dog kennels for applicants who wish to bring their own dog(s) to work.
Mintlaw is a small town located in beautiful Aberdeenshire, with easy access to the coast and just 30 miles from the city of Aberdeen. Our practice is situated on the outskirts of town near Aden and Pitfour Country Parks, providing a wonderful balance of rural charm and accessibility to city amenities.
