An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Cellular Pathology Officer Lead to join the Cell Path team. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring robust systems are in place for the management and co-ordination of the Cellular Pathology office, providing comprehensive administrative support and knowledge to the Consultant Histopathologist's team, and management team in Pathology. The role also involves providing leadership to the Cellular Pathology Admin & Clerical team to successfully achieve the current Histology cancer waiting times target and to provide high-level, professional and confidential support to the Operational Manager and Lead BMS, covering all aspects of the service provision, ensuring the delivery of a high-quality histology service.
There will be a requirement for some weekend working as part of this role, in line with the 6/7 day working in the Laboratory. This may involve, from time to time, working out of normal hours.

Most importantly, a great communicator who can effectively interact with colleagues at all levels. You will need to be resilient, flexible, influential, and informative, as well as having a positive 'can do' attitude.
Main duties of the job
1. Communication and escalation to the senior pathology management team regarding the Histology Department's performance and trends monitoring the 2 week waits turnaround times (2WW TAT)/Cancer Escalations. Working towards supporting the lab with Digital Pathology.
2. Liaison with service users including the team external to pathology regarding sensitive information including breaches to local and national benchmarks.
3. Responsible for working with colleagues across Pathology MSE and maintaining the Trust's good relationships with external agencies including other Trusts.
4. Use a variety of approaches in liaising with histology users and colleagues within Pathology to gain the best outcome for the service in line with departmental objectives.
5. Produce, review, and finalize high-quality responses to complaints in line with the Trust's procedures and protocols. Regularly promote and encourage open communication to ensure good wellbeing in the workplace. Support the delivery of both regular and adhoc information to clinicians and Managers for monitoring of service performance.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE, A-Level in Mathematics and English, NVQ or equivalent qualification
* Equivalent experience gained working in the NHS
* Certificate in using Microsoft Office Applications.
* European Computer Driving License
Skills
* Knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook).
* Evidence of organisational and time management skills
* In-depth knowledge of NHS data sets and statutory returns
* Excellent analytical and numeric skills and methodical approach to problem solving
Experience
* Experience of working in Information management
* Previous NHS experience
