An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Nursing Associate to join the Children & Young People's Continuing Care Team.
We are a growing team within CCICP looking after children with complex needs. The children are referred into our team for support at home/schools or respite centres.
We put in trained carers to support the family and child.
Main duties of the job
The Children's Continuing Care Team is dedicated to supporting children and young people with complex medical needs. We provide high quality care to children and young people within South Cheshire and Vale Royal.
Health Care Assistants provide skilled care to support these families, which is often a 1:1 with the child; the hours for this post are to cover night shifts and day shifts including weekdays and weekends, in the home and in other community settings.

* Are you passionate about providing high quality, flexible care for children and families to support them to manage their day-to-day lives?
* Would you like to learn new clinical care skills including tracheostomy, gastrostomy and jejunostomy care, Oxygen therapy and more?
* Do you have good communication skills, are reliable, and are flexible as working hours may vary on a week-to-week basis?
You will be offered bespoke competency-based training as well as NHS mandatory training relevant to your role. Support will be provided by registered nurses and experienced Health Care Assistants so that you gain the knowledge and skills required to care for these children.
Job responsibilities
The post-holder will be responsible for the implementation of care as directed by a Primary Care Registered Nurse, reporting back to them as agreed. They will be expected to carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision and may be required to demonstrate simple procedures to qualified and/or unqualified staff undertaking training where agreed with the nursing team.
To work in conjunction with the family, teachers, other carers, and other health care professionals to ensure a holistic approach to the child's care, wherever it is needed, and working without direct supervision.
Develop and maintain clinical competence and skills by undertaking a competency-based training programme, with assessment and re-assessment at regular intervals.
To promote health, comfort, dignity, privacy and a quality of life whilst supporting and promoting the child and families' rights.
To work within the complex/continuing care framework and protocols providing and maintaining a high standard of care to Patients/Carers as delegated.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nursing Associate or Assistant practitioner qualification.
* Evidence of literacy/numeracy skills [GCSE or equivalent].
* Be willing to undertake competency-based training with annual updates as a minimum.
Experience
* Willingness to work in health care and education environment with complex care needs children.
* Experience of working with children with complex health needs.
Skills & Knowledge
* Ability to provide nursing care sensitively, taking into account the client's culture, beliefs and wishes.
* Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
* Working within a community setting.
* Knowledge of the needs of a multicultural, socially diverse population.
* Knowledge of policies and procedures related to safeguarding adults and children.
Personal Qualities
* Able to demonstrate a commitment to team working.
* Able to think creatively and prioritise in a busy environment.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
